As we understand it, priority will be given to individuals who DID NOT attend the fellowship program preceding the 11th WCTOH (Chicago, 2000). There will also be a smaller number of scholarships available for individuals from low-income countries who will present at the conference (but not participate in the fellowship program). fellowship programme (WCTOH 2003) Online registration application Introduction The 12 World Congress on Tobacco or Health in Helsinki, August 2003 will carry a special Fellowship Programme for limited number of scholars working in tobacco control. The Fellowship Programme includes preconference training (three days) and the conference participation (five days) thus providing opportunity to develop a pool of dedicated tobacco control leaders with essential skills to accelerate country specific work. The fellowships will cover apex fare flight tickets from country of residence to Helsinki, hotel accommodation in Helsinki, small per diem, congress fee and participation in the Fellowship Programme (3 days before the congress and during the congress). It is strongly recommended that fellows will submit an abstract to the congress. Application deadline September 30th 2002 The Fellowship Programme constitutes mainly of three parts: pre-conference training, conference and post-conference part. The Programme development, implementation and evaluation will run from 2002 to 2005.

Organisers The National Public Health Institute under the Ministry of Health in Finland and US Public Health Service represented by CDC and American Cancer Society are co-sponsoring agencies in implementing a special Fellowship Programme for the participants from developing countries on the weekend before the conference starts.
